A new TikTok trend called “Superman” has raised alarms among parents and school organizations after children and teenagers got injured while attempting to recreate it.
The Superman trend has sparked controversy on TikTok after children and teenagers got injured trying to replicate it.
In “Superman,” people line up with their arms outstretched and attempt to catch another person who jumps in between them. After landing, the person is thrown backward while trying to perform a Superman landing.
At least 17 students, aged 10 to 17, were hospitalized in North Macedonia with fractures, concussions, and bruises after trying to perform the trend, according to The Independent.
“On the playground, students were seen performing this challenge next to concrete blocks used as seats. If anyone moves or can’t hold the person running, they could get seriously injured,” said staff at a school in Wales.
The school sent letters to parents to warn them about the risks of the Superman trend.
TikTok has posted a warning message for people who searched for the terms “superman” or “superman dance.”
