Jacob Zander, a car enthusiast, was taking pictures of a parked Porsche when the car’s owner appeared and offered him much more than just an image – in fact, an experience he will never forget.
In a video posted on Instagram, Zander shared his encounter with Lyman and how their love for cars, or more specifically their shared interest in one particular model, created a connection between him and a stranger.
“So this morning I was walking through the Carmel Farmers Market, and you won’t believe what happened. I saw this cool Porsche 911, and I thought, ‘Oh, I should take a picture of it,'” he says in his video.
“So I took a picture of the car, and this guy was walking towards it, opened the door, and I said, ‘Cool car!’ and he said, ‘Thanks.'”
The interaction between the two didn’t stop there. Zander mentioned that he had just bought his first Porsche, which led Lyman to invite him to check out some of the other cars he had in his garage.
In his post, Zander shared the day they spent together; first, the new friends met for lunch, and then Lyman took Zander to check out his Porsche 911 collection.
In the video, the duo can be seen inspecting everything – checking the engines, admiring the interiors, and of course, after all of that, they picked one of the cars for a ride, and Zander had the chance to drive the model of his dreams.
The meeting between these car enthusiasts earned many praises from internet users. “I love this!! When you’re open to strangers being nice, you start to see true human connection,” said one commenter.
“My dad has so many cool old cars in his garage that he wants to show off, but you just can’t trust people. Thank you for being so kind to this man and allowing him to have that moment,” wrote another.
