According to researcher Dr. Simon Dubé, people who use emojis on the internet are more emotionally intelligent. He also stated that women are the most frequent users of these symbols in digital interactions.

“The way we interact during virtual communications can reveal more about ourselves. It’s not just a smiling face or a heart emoji; it’s a way to convey meaning and communicate more effectively,” he explained.

The study was conducted in the U.S. with the messaging history of 320 people. The results show that using emojis in conversations indicates emotional intelligence and a good ability to understand the feelings of others.

“This research suggests that people often send emojis to reduce uncertainties, adjust the tone of the message, or increase its accuracy,” he continued.

He pointed out that men use a wider range of emoji types, while women use emojis more positively and accurately.

“Our results suggest that those who experience discomfort with proximity and intimacy may also distance themselves from emotional expression in virtual communications,” Dr. Simon Dubé said.
