Residents of Starbase, a corporate city located in Texas (USA) where SpaceX’s headquarters are based, may soon lose their properties.

According to CNBC, some residents received a notification stating that Starbase is considering adopting a new zoning plan and an updated urban map.

The decision will impact property owners in an area called the “Mixed-Use District,” which allowed both residential and commercial use, including offices and small-scale services.

Kent Myers, administrator of Starbase, signed a notice informing residents about a public hearing to be held on June 23rd at 9 AM at the city’s temporary city hall located in Brownsville, Texas.

The notice reveals to residents that if the decision is approved, they may lose their property rights. It is worth noting that this notice complies with Texas local government code.

The city, home to SpaceX’s rocket launch facility, became a “type C municipal corporation” earlier this month after the company won a local election.

Data from early 2025 reveals that out of the city’s approximately 500 residents, about half (260) work directly for SpaceX, while the other residents are mostly relatives of the company’s employees.
