Tests of the “light beam emitter” are expected to begin in August, according to an anonymous source identified as the director of the company developing the anti-drone laser.

“Currently, the most relevant systems are those designed to combat Ukrainian Lyuty-type drones,” he told Russian news agency Sputnik.

“That’s why we are preparing a prototype, which we plan to test by the end of the summer. Our top target is the Ukrainian Lyuty drone, which we aim to burn with a laser from 1,500 meters away.”

He also explained that the laser is capable of hitting targets silently and within seconds, ensuring the immediate destruction of any drone component in its sights.

According to the company director, the laser is being developed under the Posokh project, which aims to protect rear-area facilities from FPV (First-Person View) drones.
