During last Wednesday’s (9th) Samsung Unpacked, the company unveiled its Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatch lineup, the first to receive Google Gemini.
The technology was implemented on Samsung watches even before arriving on Google’s Pixel smartwatches and represents a major leap for Google Assistant, which was present on previous Galaxy Watches.
During the live broadcast, Samsung promoted Gemini as a handy way to operate health and fitness features without using hands. According to them, Gemini can also be used as a voice assistant to send messages or schedule calendar events.
Although announced for the Watch 8 series, Gemini will roll out to all Wear OS 4+ smartwatches “in the coming weeks,” according to the brand.
This means all Samsung watches with the mentioned Wear OS are eligible to receive Gemini, from the Galaxy Watch 4 through the Galaxy Watch 7, including the Watch Ultra.
At the event, Google’s AI was also showcased on Samsung’s new foldable phones, the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, but according to Google, it’s expected to be introduced on upcoming OPPO, OnePlus, and Xiaomi releases, as well as the Pixel Watch.
