The second Amazon boycott began this Tuesday (May 6) and will run until May 12. The boycott is a form of consumer protest against what they call “corporate greed.”

According to those organizing the boycotts, corporate greed refers to a trend among big tech companies to scale back or eliminate inclusion measures since Donald Trump took office in January.

The second boycott of Amazon is being organized by The People’s Union, the same group that coordinated a one-day economic blackout for consumers on February 28.

The boycott targets Amazon and its affiliates, including Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, Amazon Prime Video, Audible, Twitch, Ring, Zappos, and Kindle.

The People’s Union has held several weekly boycotts against various companies and retailers since February 28, including Walmart and General Mills. The group also organized a second three-day economic blackout in April.

The group has announced plans to carry out further boycotts through July 4. John Schwarz, organizer of The People’s Union, said that long-term boycotts against specific companies will also be announced.

In a post dated May 2, Schwarz criticized Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos after Amazon stated that it would not display how much Trump’s tariffs would cost on products on the site. The plan had been announced at the end of last month, but Amazon backtracked following criticism from the White House.

According to Schwarz, Bezos backed down: “and that’s what we’re up against. A billionaire who doesn’t pay his fair share of taxes. A billionaire who manipulates markets, silences his sellers, and flaunts his obscene wealth while Americans struggle to stay afloat.”
