A list of videos showing failures in Tesla robotaxi tests has gone viral on Reddit, and internet users are fearful of Elon Musk’s promises.

Tesla’s CEO announced back in 2016 that there would be an autonomous taxi operation with fully automated driving. Now, Musk has launched the first phase of robotaxi testing in Austin, Texas.

Dozens of videos have appeared online and gone viral on Reddit showing various failures in the autonomous driving of the vehicles, which require a passenger in the front seat to intervene in emergencies.

One of the reported problems was that robotaxis do not detect UPS trucks, speeding vehicles, and they also invade wrong lanes or leave passengers in the middle of busy intersections.

“This behavior is potentially concerning, it stopped instead of swerving, and then continued, apparently without knowing what it was,” criticized a user in the video comments.

“And what if someone had fallen off their bike and a leg was extended onto the street? Would it stop, hesitate, and then also run over them?” the user continued.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) contacted Tesla following the release of videos showing robotaxis violating traffic laws.
