Ryan Montgomery, known as the best hacker in the world, used his social media to warn people not to share iPhone charging cables.

Ryan Montgomery, known as the best hacker in the world, shared on his social media the risks of using iPhone charging cables from other people.

“One of these two cables that look the same can cause havoc on your computer or phone,” he showed in his video. Montgomery explained that one of these USB cables is known as the O.MG cable, which can connect the phone directly to a web server.

“With this cable plugged in, I have full access to this computer,” he explained. Ryan Montgomery describes himself as an ethical hacker, someone who tests security systems on electronic devices.

“Never trust a cable that isn’t yours, and if you’re really concerned, use a USB data blocker,” he warned.

The O.MG cable was developed in 2019 by Mike Grover, costing $200, and it took nearly eight hours to produce just one unit.

“Inside each cable, I put an implant with a web server, USB communication, and Wi-Fi access. It’s connected, powered, and you can connect to it,” said Grover, who says he created the first units in his garage.
