A hotel in Las Vegas is facing heavy criticism online after the travel blog A View from the Wing shared the story of a tourist who was shocked by the price charged for a simple bottle of water.

The man, who remains unidentified, reportedly stayed at the Aria Resort & Casino, where the cheapest nightly rate is $280. According to him, a hotel staff member restocking the minibar informed him that the water he had taken cost $26.

To put the price in perspective, the same bottle of water is sold at a café on the lower level of the hotel for $7.45.

In April, another travel blog on Facebook had already shared a photo of the minibar menu from another Las Vegas hotel, where a bottle of Fiji Water cost nearly twice as much as a Deluxe Coca-Cola.

With the caption “Do you think it’s fair to pay for convenience, or is this excessive?” the traveler questioned whether the prices made any sense.

Although it’s widely known that hotel minibar prices are exorbitant, charging so much for water left internet users furious.

“Prices in Las Vegas are completely out of control, and the executives wonder why visitor numbers are declining. Vegas used to be a nice, affordable weekend getaway. Now, a weekend costs the same as a full vacation,” one person commented.

“Why use the minibar? Everyone knows the prices are ridiculous. Always get drinks elsewhere. Tip the waitress a dollar and ask for water,” another added.
