Latvia will send 12,000 drones to Ukraine in the first half of 2025 to assist in the country’s conflict with Russia.
The announcement was made by Andris Sprūds, Latvia’s Minister of Defense, according to a report from the Delfi website. The delivery of these drones will take place within the framework of the International Drone Coalition.
The coalition, formed in February 2024, is led by Latvia and the United Kingdom and includes 17 countries, with Norway recently joining. So far, the member states have committed to providing Ukraine with nearly 2 billion euros for drones.
Minister Andris Sprūds stated that last year, about 5,000 different drones made in Latvia, worth 15 million euros, were transferred to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
It is also important to note that coalition members are also providing, on a bilateral basis, assistance in the form of unmanned aerial vehicles and financial support.
