Donald Trump is facing heavy criticism on social media after interrupting a White House interview to call a reporter “beautiful.”

The incident occurred last Friday (27), shortly after the signing of a peace agreement between the U.S., the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda, while Trump was being interviewed in the Oval Office alongside Angolan reporter Hariana Veras.
Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Olivier Nduhungirehe, Foreign Minister of Rwanda, Vice President JD Vance, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio were also present.
During the interview, Veras, a veteran journalist covering African news, told the president that the Democratic Republic of the Congo was grateful for his work and hoped peace could be achieved in the future.
“That’s so nice, and so beautifully said. Karoline [Leavitt] said at first that I shouldn’t say this because it’s politically incorrect… she said, ‘She’s beautiful.’ And you are beautiful!” Trump replied.
“I’m not supposed to say that, you know? It could be the end of my political career, but I’ll say it anyway. You are beautiful, and beautiful on the inside. I wish we had more reporters like you.”
Some users quickly commented on the “strange” interaction on social media. “Trump weirdly calls a reporter ‘beautiful’ in the middle of an interview… truly creepy behavior,” wrote one Reddit user.
