A woman is being heavily criticized on social media after trespassing a restricted area to climb an ancient Mayan pyramid in Mexico.

In the now-deleted video, Angela Lopez captured the moment when a blonde woman was seen climbing the steps of the Kukulcán Temple pyramid in Chichén Itzá, Mexico.

It is worth noting that the public has been prohibited from climbing the pyramid since 2006, when a person slipped on one of the steps and died during the descent, according to National Post.

Despite this, the woman in question seemed unconcerned. She was seen reaching the top and entering the structure before waving to the crowd below.

However, the public was not impressed. Many tourists began expressing their discontent, shouting that she should “get down” and that she “should be arrested.”

When she descended, the woman was met by angry tourists who started pushing her as she passed through the crowd. “Don’t mess with my Mexican people,” Angela added.

@abc7la In Mexico, a dumb tourist stunt prompted a very angry reaction. People can be heard shouting “idiot” and other insults in Spanish as they doused the tourist with water after she climbed an ancient Mayan archaeological site known as El Castillo. #abc7la #news #abc7eyewitness #mexico #ancient #elcastillo ♬ original sound – ABC7LA
