An Argentine man went viral after recording a video in which he shows a device that silences a speaker on a beach in Brazil.

The 12-second clip, posted last Friday (January 10) on X (formerly Twitter), shows the man holding the mysterious device, which is capable of silencing the music playing from the speaker of the beachgoers in front of him.

Pocket gone 1 x JBL speaker 0″, wrote the tourist Roni Bandini in the caption of the video. According to a report from the website UOL, the device was developed to interfere with Bluetooth connections between devices, interrupting the communication between them.

In another post, the Argentine explained that he created two models of the device, and both are capable of blocking Bluetooth connections in specific areas. However, he emphasized that the device only works with Bluetooth connections, so it is ineffective if the music from the speaker is being played from a USB drive, for example.

On social media, reactions from netizens were mixed. While some said the idea was clever, Bandini was also criticized by others for “ruining” the fun for the beachgoers.

“Great idea. I need one of these for my neighborhood. Brazilians think everyone has to listen to their music without headphones, and they end up busting everyone’s eardrums,” said one user.

“Who goes to the beach and doesn’t want to hear some pagodinho or sertanejo is just frustrated,” stated another. “It’s useless, there are many other speakers around,” reflected a third user. “A dream,” admitted one more.
