A war robot with extraordinary defense capabilities has taken on the role of DJ at a nightclub in San Francisco.
Phantom, the robot created by Foundation Robotics Labs, performed at the Temple Nightclub for a 30-minute DJ set during an event called Tech GigaParty, an AI-focused expo.
According to Timothy Karoff from SFGate, the robotic DJ set was impressive, but the first sounds that came from the war robot’s mixer were unusual and out of sync.
It’s important to note that Foundation Robotics Labs is not primarily focused on creating robots to be DJs at nightclubs, but rather on building robots for national defense and military purposes.
Robots like Phantom are already being used for non-combat tasks within the U.S. military, such as aircraft maintenance and refueling in remote areas.

Therefore, the reveal of the robot as a DJ was a way for the company to show that the war machine can also be used for entertainment.
“We’re not trying to apologize for the power of robots. So for us, this is the perfect reveal because this is what our robot is. This is a fun moment,” said Mike LeBlanc, the company’s co-founder, to SFGATE.
