The video showing a father capturing the shocking moment when his son was swallowed by a whale is going viral on social media.

Dell Simancas and his son Adrian were kayaking in the Magellan Strait in Chile when Adrian saw what he described as “beautiful waves,” his father told CNN.

He thought the waves “looked exciting” and then heard what sounded like a “strong wave” hitting behind him. Turning around to look, Dell was surprised when he realized he couldn’t see his son anywhere.

Fortunately, just a few seconds later, Adrian resurfaced after the humpback whale spat him back out. Dell shouted at his son to “grab the boat” so he would have something to hold onto in the water.

“When I turned around, I felt a slimy texture on my face. I saw colors like dark blue, white, something coming from behind that closed in… and sank me,” Adrian said to CNN.

“At that moment, I thought there was nothing I could do, that I was going to die, I didn’t know what it was,” the 24-year-old added.

Fortunately, the next thing he felt was his life jacket pulling him up, “and then two seconds later, I was back at the surface and started to understand what had happened.”

Luckily for Adrian, humpback whales don’t eat humans, and it would be very difficult for one to swallow him completely instead of just spitting him back out.
