Jack Massey Welsh, a YouTuber with over 4 million subscribers on his channel, decided to take on a challenge of walking over 100,000 steps in a single day.
Experts argue that 10,000 steps is the minimum amount of steps a person should walk daily to be considered “physically active.” However, Welsh decided to take this advice to the extreme.
In a follow-up to his previous challenge, which involved walking 250,000 steps in a week, Welsh documented every moment of his 100,000-step challenge in a single day.
When he hit 25,000 steps, Welsh admitted that his body started to feel the impact. “My back is starting to hurt a bit, the pain in my ankles has only worsened a little, but it’s still okay.”
“I think we’ll be fine, but I’m starting to feel a bit unwell right now. The fatigue is definitely starting to show,” Welsh said in the video.

He kept going, but when he reached 75,000 steps, he admitted that he started to believe finishing the challenge would really be difficult.
“My feet obviously started hurting after 20,000 steps, but the last 15,000 steps were the hardest. […] Every step I took hurt. I think my ankles were swollen, so my shoes became less comfortable.”
Fortunately, after walking almost nonstop for 15 hours, 28 minutes, and 22 seconds, he completed the challenge. “I was so exhausted I couldn’t even climb a hill to get back to the car. When we got home, taking off my shoes was a real challenge.”
