The measure will begin to be implemented from December 1, 2023. Deleted accounts will lose all content stored in them, affecting emails, photos, files, contacts, etc., in Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, and Photos.

According to Google, to keep an account active and prevent it from being lost due to inactivity, it is necessary to log in to the account and use any of the company’s services. Some examples of activities that will keep the account active include:

  • Read or send an email
  • Use Google Drive
  • Watch a YouTube video
  • Download an app from the Google Play Store
  • Use Google Search
  • Use Google login to sign in to a third-party app or service

According to Google, the update will contribute to the security and privacy of the platform and will only affect personal accounts, not affecting registrations by companies, schools, or other organizations.
