On the last Saturday, the 14th, people were enchanted by the Annular Solar Eclipse, also known as the ‘ring of fire.’ Today, on the 16th, NASA decided to highlight this special event with a unique moment in the life of a couple in the ‘Astronomical Photo of the Day.’

During the eclipse, which could be observed from various parts of the world, including the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, and others, a pair of astronomers captured a marriage proposal.

The shot was taken at Abert Lake in Oregon, USA, and was captured by a friend of the couple. The photo not only documented the beautiful cosmic event but also the silhouette of the couple.

An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, but due to its more distant position in its elliptical orbit, the Moon appears smaller than the Sun. As a result, during the eclipse, the Sun is not completely covered by the Moon, and a bright ring of sunlight, known as the “ring of fire,” is visible around the Moon.
