The image highlighted by the NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) as the “Astronomical Photo of the Day” for this Wednesday (23rd) is a captivating capture of outer space.

In the image, it’s possible to observe the incredible path of a meteor through the sky. This meteor, in fact, is a tiny piece of a comet’s nucleus, which likely was ejected from its orbit around the Sun many years ago.

When Earth crossed paths with this fragment, it entered our atmosphere, creating a luminous spectacle that could be admired from Earth as a meteor.

The image, highlighted by NASA, is even more impressive for also capturing the Andromeda Galaxy. The photo was taken during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower in Castilla La Mancha, Spain.
