European users are expected to join the new Meta platform, positioned as a rival to X (formerly known as Twitter), later this year, according to information from The Verge and The Wall Street Journal. Additionally, some changes and new features are expected for this audience, such as independent login, separate from Instagram.

Although there has been no official statement from Meta regarding the future launch, the company has updated the website with a countdown timer. Users may find some digital invites called ‘tickets’ on Instagram, containing a QR code and a launch date and time variable by country.

The launch in the European Union was delayed due to regulatory issues, likely related to the strict rules of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) of the EU. Meta has also not confirmed the specific EU countries where Threads will be launched.
