A video released by the Russian defense ministry shows the crews of the MiG-31 fighters practicing the interception of cruise missiles from a fictional adversary over the skies of Chukotka.

The exercise is conducted under the leadership of the Commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
According to the Russian defense ministry, one of the significant episodes of the exercise was the practice of air defense actions of the Chukotka peninsula against aerial attack means from a fictional adversary. To intercept the target cruise missiles, two ready-to-launch MiG-31 fighters were scrambled from the Anadyr airfield. Their crews destroyed the aerial targets using “air-to-air” missiles.
After completing the assigned tasks, the aircraft returned to the airbase.
In the “Finval-2023” tactical exercise, about ten thousand military personnel and over 50 units of military equipment participate, including: surface ships and support ships, submarines, naval aviation aircraft and helicopters, coastal missile systems “Bal” and “Bastion”, as well as high mobility wheeled and tracked armored vehicles.
During the maneuvers, successful firings with cruise missiles were carried out on a complex target position in the northeastern part of the Bering Sea.
